PostgreSQL, in perspective.
How developers use databases. How their preferences change.
Follow PostgreSQL through years of survey results and popularity data.

Different signals.
Useful context.
What developers report
Stack Overflow is a voluntary survey. Its database percentages describe respondents to a question, with multiple choices allowed. They do not estimate worldwide market share.
The comparable database series here starts in 2017. Earlier survey archives cover 2011–2016, but do not provide this same series.
What the web reflects
DB-Engines combines signals of popularity. Its scores and ranks measure relative attention, rather than installations or revenue. They cannot be combined with survey percentages.
Both pages use dated snapshots. Missing values remain missing, and each page explains its definitions and sources.
